About Giaans Dressmakers
Growing up, creativity and fashion had always been a part of Giaan’s life, it started with an obsession for drawing princesses and goddesses wearing pretty dresses. Arriving in Townsville in 2015 with her husband, and as a fresh graduate from her fashion degree, with the experience from the several internships in Melbourne, Giaan was eager to start something new and exciting of her own. Two years went by as a full-time seamstress and Giaan’s Dressmakers was born in 2017.
The primary focus of her business is on providing excellence in tailoring, dressmaking, alterations, and now private sewing lessons. Giaan believes sewing is a dying art, especially in many first world countries, including Australia. Her aim is to keep the art of sewing alive through teaching.
Giaan is passionate about unique Australian fashion culture, the topic of her research thesis. The Drill Hall is a second home to many local artists and is where Giaan finds her inspiration, support, love, and a sense of belonging. Through her sewing lessons and social media, this young, passionate and enthusiastic soul loves to share her knowledge and further develop her fashion career. Below is just some examples of her work.
